what is your training philosophy
We believe in balanced training. Consequences, both negative and positive, are required for a calm and balanced dog. We do use tools, equipment, treats, and physical rewards to encourage proper behaviors.
what tools do you use?
Herm Sprenger prong collars. While many people dislike the appearance of the collars, they are the most efficient and safest tools that all dogs respect. They are able to grab the dog's attention without causing any physical damage to the dog or their trachea.
E-collars by E-collar Technologies. Though there is some controversy over the use of this equipment, they are the most humane and effective training tools. While the equipment and company are great, with the stimulation levels ranging from 0-100, these collars allow the stimulation levels to not only be strong enough, but also sensitive for any kind of dog. I encourage everyone to see e-collars as a form of communication rather than just correction.
how does the drop-off process work?
We will meet you at the specified location and time and introduce ourselves to you and your dog. All forms will have a final review in order to confirm information and clear any confusion. A tour of the facilities is available before introducing your dog to the pack.
where will my dog be staying?
Dogs will be in individual kennels when unsupervised. When trainer supervision is available, they will have access to the dog run or the full property, depending on their responsibility and attitude.
can i visit my dog during training?
Generally, we prefer not to allow visits, but under special circumstances may arrange an exception. One of the main reasons stands as it disrupts the dogs calm state of mind, routine, and causes confusion due to inconsistent handler instruction.
will my dog remember me when i come pick him up?
Yes, they absolutely will!
Don't be offended if your dog doesn't initially recognize you by sight. A dog's primary sense is their sense of smell, and therefore they may need to catch your scent before they recognize you.
what is the minimum age accepted for board and trains?
We do not take any dog under four months. This is due to maturity and attention span.
do you take all cases?
No, we have the right to refuse service to any case we feel we are not qualified to take on. We cannot guarantee acceptance of your dog into our programs; however, there is a strong likelihood of approval. Approval is contingent upon available capacity and trainer qualifications.
can you take aggression cases?
Yes. We feel confident that we can handle multiple types of aggression within a dog. Aggression towards other dogs, handlers, and leash reactivity. Aggression cases may require a consultation. Please do not hesitate to call with any concerns.
how do you handle separation anxiety?
Some cases with separation anxiety issues will need a longer training period. These cases can be difficult but the important thing to do is instilling confidence and self control and to encourage focus.
do you take un-neutered dogs?
Depending on the dog, it may or may not be an issue. The dog in question may be separated by being placed in a separate run from other dogs.
What vaccinations are required for training/boarding?
We require your dog(s) to have been vaccinated for both Rabies and Distemper/Parvo. This is subject to change, but no others are required at this time.
