OUR INTENTION IN TRAINING YOUR DOG[S] IS TO GIVE YOU THE CONFIDENCE AND FOUNDATION TO TAKE THEM ANYWHERE AS YOU WOULD YOUR FAMILY
Family K9 Services combines both sides of our mission in creating a space for dog training services as well as animal rescue services. In an attempt at differentiating the two services, we have color coded the contrasting corners of the website and online presence. Navy blue represents FK9S as the dog training service that caters to dogs that already have an owner. Maroon red represents FK9S as the animal rescue service that caters to finding shelter/stray dogs a forever home.
Hi! My name is Emily Ashabranner, and I am a professional dog trainer based in central Texas with over 15 years of experience. I have always had a passion for dogs, and I love nothing more than experiencing the blessing of working with dogs and getting to turn their lives around for the better.
We currently have five dogs of our own on property. Four of which are listed on our 'Gallery': Ēostrea, Atlas, and Chloe, and Einar. The fifth dog is camera shy, but we love her just the same. Her name is Mazy and she is a Great Pyrenees mix.
WE BELIEVE IN BALANCED TRAINING. CONSEQUENCES, BOTH NEGATIVE AND POSITIVE, ARE REQUIRED FOR A CALM AND BALANCED DOG. WE DO USE TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, TREATS, AND PHYSICAL REWARDS TO ENCOURAGE PROPER BEHAVIORS

- Our Purpose as a Rescue -
Welcome to Family K9 Services, a non-profit 501(c)(3), where compassion meets commitment in the world of animal welfare.
Our mission as a rescue is clear—to rescue, train, and rehome dogs, giving them a second chance at a happy and healthy life. So many dogs find themselves returned to shelters due to their adopters realizing they lack the skills and resources to train. Here at Family K9 Services, we want to change that narrative. When you choose to adopt a dog from us, you're not just giving a home to a shelter dog—you're eliminating the guesswork. We offer a comprehensive support network and educational resources to guarantee the success of both you and your new companion.
Whether you're looking to adopt a new family member, volunteer your time, or make a donation, your support makes a big difference. Thank you for considering Family K9 Servies as your partner in making a difference in the lives of dogs in need.
We would like to note that our goal in training your dog is not to only master cues, but to shift their mindset. We aim to aid in their transition from a silly self-centered mindset to a calm, controlled and collected mindset. One that prioritizes awareness of their place in the hierarchy and what his/her expectations are.
THERE IS NO SIZE REQUIREMENT FOR TRAINING. WHETHER A FIVE POUND CHIHUAHUA OR A 100+ POUND CANE CORSO, WE ARE HONORED TO TAKE THEM INTO OUR CARE AND IMPROVE BOTH THEIR AND THEIR OWNER’S LIVES
We hear about too many dogs finding themselves caught in an endless loop of adoption and return or requiring constant restraint. We are ambitious to change this narrative. Our calling is to take the rescues and strays typically labeled as 'difficult to manage' and transform them into dogs worthy of trust and responsibility.
TRAINING SHOULDN’T BE ABOUT FEAR, FRUSTRATION, OR CONFUSION. IT SHOULD BE COMFORTABLE, FUN AND EFFECTIVE! IT SHOULD DEVELOP A PARTNERSHIP OF TRUST AND RESPECT, A RELATIONSHIP BONDED THROUGH WORK AND PLAY.
